The El Paso Hostel at Gardner Hotel opened back in 1984, and has been serving travelers from around the globe since then! A stay in the hostel is ideal for solo travelers or groups of friends who want to enjoy the downtown location and Hotel’s history, but on a budget.
Centrally situated near to all the tourist attractions in the city centre, we are conveniently located for you to enjoy all that El Paso has to offer, whatever interests you may have. We have a selection of rooms and facilities including a communal self-service kitchen for those staying in the hostel so you can make your own meals or prepare for daytrips, a dining area to meet other travelers and share a meal, and a games room with a pool table to socialize.
We have been recognized for excellence by Lonely Planet and Harvard University (Let’s Go), along with other awards. You may have seen us on Hotel Impossible, when we receive a makeover on our hostel rooms on the Travel Channel!
Please note – we are located in a prime downtown location area which means during the weekends, in particular, there is a lot of night life in El Paso. Noise may be present at times, so go out, have some fun, and make good use of your guest discounts perks at our neighborhood bars and restaurants. Or, if you are all partied out, we have free earplugs available at the front desk!

All areas of the city are easily accessible by public bus as the main terminal is only 2 blocks away. There are so many things to do around El Paso. Or if you want real authentic Mexican food, El Paso boasts many nationally rated Mexican cafes and restaurants.
El Paso-Juarez is one of the oldest communities in the USA as the 1st Europeans visited the area in 1581. As a historical note the 1st Thanksgiving in the USA was celebrated here in El Paso in 1598 about 20 years prior to the pilgrims celebration in Massachusetts. The area has long been teeming with pre-Columbian natives for centuries. The Aztecs in Mexico City traded with the natives living in and around El Paso. Throughout its history El Paso has been the home to Cowboys, Indians, Conquistadors, Army Generals, Revolutionaries, and a host of others.
Visit the many museums of El Paso and Juarez and get a unique view of this wonderful and amazing area.
We are located center-city which puts you in close proximity to dining, clubs, and events. The trouble in Juarez, Mexico has greatly subsided and it is returning as a tourist destination. We are located only about one mile from downtown Juarez where there is a plethora of clubs, cafes and shops.
